The 2020 World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ Report rates New Zealand as the best place to do business. New Zealand and Australia are closely aligned in trade with many businesses in Australia selling products and services in New Zealand and vice versa, and sharing trading partners with the United Kingdom, China, Japan and the United States.

New Zealand has increasingly sophisticated online filing systems and low cost fees for patents, designs and trade marks. Processing time of patent, design and trade mark applications through to examination is typically significantly faster than Australia, and many other procedures have been streamlined.
