Matthew holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) as well as a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Adelaide. He completed his PhD at the University of Adelaide, and was undertaking post-doctoral research at RMIT University prior to joining FB Rice.
As a member of the ARC Research Hub for Australian Steel Manufacturing, Matthew saw first hand the opportunities and challenges associated with translating scientific research into commercial products. Matthew is eager to invest time getting to know his clients and understand their technologies with the aim to help convert research and development results into patentable inventions that can generate commercial value.
During his academic career Matthew specialised in investigating the adsorption of peptides and proteins on solid surfaces along with mechanisms by which solid surfaces may resist protein adsorption. In addition, Matthew has worked extensively with local and international research partners studying the self-assembly of organic and biological molecules into nanostructures with potential biomedical and environmental applications. He has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed publications.
Matthew is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney.
