After six years with the firm, he joined the FB Rice partnership in Sydney. Before joining FB Rice, Jeremy worked as a London based UK patent agent and a European patent attorney for nearly a decade.
Jeremy is well known amongst clients for his approachable, honest, pragmatic and commercial approach to their intellectual property portfolios with the goal to help them achieve the best business outcomes available. He looks at the bigger picture and determines what the long term goal of the client is regarding their IP, reviews all pros and cons of available options. He puts things in a way that are easy to understand, particularly for clients with little IP experience.
Jeremy works for a wide range of clients from small individual inventors, through SMEs and including larger corporates, but focuses mainly on small and mid-sized businesses.
He has a particular focus on Registered Designs and has a particular interest in green technologies particularly recycling and re-use of materials, and closing the loop generally.
As well as preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications, Jeremy has also run numerous oppositions to patents for inventions before the Australian and New Zealand Patent Offices. He has provided expert evidence on issues of infringement and/or validity of Australian patents in proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia on several occasions.
Jeremy is a Past President of the Institute of Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, and travels regularly to Europe, where he has an extensive global network of contacts. He is a member of FB Rice’s Executive Board.
Jeremy is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent and Trade Marks Attorney, qualified as a European Patent Attorney, and is also registered as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney.
